Tailoring hydroxyapatite suspensions by stirred bead milling

The present work deals with the use of stirred bead milling process to tune hydroxyapatite particles size adjusting conditions. Our goal is find optimal parameters obtain particulate suspensions within a 0.2–1.5 μm particle range. This range preferable produce spherical feedstock for powder bed fusion technologies through atomization process. A Darvan C dispersant agent dosage 2.1 mg m−2 (active component) specific surface ceramic was found, stability and rheological analyses, be most outstanding stabilizing dispersion. Milling chamber, wear, energy consumption were evaluated minimized, finding efficient operating parameter setting For studied material, fast stirrer speed, smaller grinding media size, higher solids concentration increased efficiency. confirmed presented laboratory-scale as promising method study processing hydroxyapatite-filled slurries, first-step product, on manufacture microspheres industry.
